Summer is in full swing
July 09, 2024
Summer is in full swing at Gillespie House Inn and what a start we are enjoying. Our first time as innkeepers during the Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival was an experience we will always treasure. The community was abuzz with creative energy from the extraordinary artists who filled our town with their beautiful creations.
Our team were delighted to host 15 year old youth artist Carter Noseworthy and his lovely parents as our guests and were so excited when Carter chose to paint Gillespie House Inn. His oil painting of the Inn is truly masterful and Carter made a major impact on the festival, with seasoned artists not only supporting him but taking note of his exceptional talent. We look forward to Carter taking part in many future Parrsboro Plein Air Festivals and to following his creative endeavours as two of his paintings have a place of honour in our home. What an impressive young man and artist! It was also exciting to have Tara Crowley, another gifted artist who participated in the quick draw event and her husband stay with us. Tara’s beach rocks watercolour also captured our hearts and is adorning the walls of our Beachcomber’s room.
Another talented artist Andy McLean did an extraordinary job of painting the peonies in our gardens so as you can see we were totally enthralled with and immersed in the Plein Air happenings and so pleased to have been one of the sponsors.
Blogger, photographer and influencer Sylvie Mazerolle spent some time with us and we loved having her visit us and telling the world about Parrsboro and the area. Sylvie wrote a delightful blog telling about her experiences and captured her stay in gorgeous photos. Fair to say she fell in love with it all.
We are excited with the line up of the Ship’s Company Theatre’s line up for the 40th anniversary celebrations and as Chair of the theatre’s Board I am especially proud of our theatre’s impressive calibre and the outstanding teams that have given us this lasting legacy.
In addition to our mission to design extraordinary, unforgettable guest experience infused with the richness of authentic Nova Scotian hospitality, we are very committed to our community and making Gillespie House Inn a part of the social fabric and best memories.
Just recently we welcomed graduates of Parrsboro Regional High to have their prom pictures takes on our ground and verandah and treated them to pink lemonade and delicious mini cupcakes. What a beautiful sight to see these students in their best attire grace our grounds. There was such a sense of excitement and pride as the world is their oyster.
Finally we have been so happy to welcome new and returning guests and to share the Inn. As Canada celebrated Multiculturalism Day in late June and Canada Day on July 1, we were reminded of how blessed we are to live in Canada and the honour it is to welcome the world. You, our guests are truly such a delight and add something special to each and every day. We feel we are not only getting to host you which is a privilege in itself but also widening our circle of friends.
Here’s to lots of glorious sunny days ahead with our guests, to rising tides and to starry, starry nights!
